The Scene: Sarah Jessica Parker poses as Carrie for promotional shots way back in 2003

The Style: A patchwork skirt, strappy heels and a flower print bag...it shouldn’t work but the inimitable Carrie Bradshaw takes it in her stride!

The Scene: In the final double bill of the series, Carrie moves to P aris to be with her lover, enigmatic artist Aleksandr Petrovsky (played by real life ballet superstar Mikhail Barishynikov).

The Style: Fully getting into the spirit of the Left Bank look, our heroine wears a striped sweater by Sonia Rykiel. Très chic!

The Scene: A very pregnant Charlotte (Kristin Davies) tries to make a swift exit from a restaurant in the first movie, after bumping into Mr Big, who jilted Carrie at the altar six months before. She tells him, “I curse the day you were born”, her waters break and he rushes her to hospital. The drama!

The Style: Could this have been the best maternity wardrobe we’ve ever seen? Charlotte works polka dot Oscar de la Renta and a pink trench coat with her stacks of shopping bags.

The Scene: Pre-wedding disaster, Carrie meets Big to look at a gorgeous pre-War apartment – with a very small closet.

The Style: In a vintage floral dress and matching summer coat, Carrie makes her accessories count with an unexpected studded belt, Christian Dior gladiator heels (that spawned a hundred high street copies) and a cute ‘n’ quirky Timmy Woods Eiffel Tower bag.

The Scene: Carrie shelters from the rain at the Guggenheim in series five, where her random ramblings scare off a hot guy.

The Style: Ms Bradshaw suffered a Marilyn moment in this stripy skirt, which she paired with white stilettos and a bold red jacket.

The Scene: The girls head to LA where Carrie is in talks about making a movie of her columns. Cue cameos from Star Wars icon Carrie Fisher and Matthew McConaughey and a trip en masse to the Playboy Mansion, where a guest offers to buy Charlotte a new pair of boobs.

The Style: Poolside glamour the Sex And The City way, in sequinned a sheer kaftans, maxi dresses and cherry print bikinis.

Scene: In the first film, Manhattan’s best dressed visit an auction house, to bid on the jewels of a recently divorced socialite.

The Style: Stylist Patricia Field gets creative with colour and clashing prints, and puts Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) in a circle print Maggie London dress and metallic Alexander McQueen bag, while Carrie sports a vintage floral dress and orange Fendi box bag, and Charlotte looks Park Avenue-perfect in a Ferregamo dress and Louboutin heels.

The Scene: Samantha gets into a bidding war over a blinging cocktail ring at the first film’s auction – only to be outdone by a mysterious phone bidder...who later turns out to be her boyfriend, actor Smith Jerrod.

The Style: Turning heads in sexy red, Sam wears an 80s-inspired Thierry Mugler jacket, Valentino pencil skirt and Fendi bag.

The Scene: Carrie muses over the ups and downs of her years in New York in the opening sequence of Sex And The City The Movie.

The Style: Reliving the corsage moment, Carrie rocks a vintage white dress complete with huge floral detail, which earns her a compliment from a passing group of 20-something fashionistas.

The Scene: Samantha (Kim Cattrall) walks into Carrie’s ‘honeymoon’ suite and sees it covered in rose petals. Trouble is, Carrie’s wedding day didn’t exactly work out the way she’d planned

The Style: Bright and bold as ever, Ms Jones goes for a hypnotic Hervé Leger dress and Sonia Rykiel hat, finished with a colour-popping Rebecca Minkoff bag.
